Enhancing Community Wellness: Yoga in Cork City

Posted on

At Himalaya Yoga Valley, we believe in the power of yoga to transform lives and communities. Our Yoga studios Cork City and Ballincollig, offer a sanctuary for individuals seeking balance, strength, and inner peace through the practice of yoga and we have also been working for close to a decade to make yoga an impactful practise not only for our clients directly, but laterally to vulnerable members of our community by supporting the people who work directly with them.

Supporting Our Community
Our commitment to community wellness extends beyond the studio walls. Through our Yoga Gives Back Community Programs, we strive to support those who dedicate their lives to helping others. For over 8 years, we have been offering FREE yoga classes to the hardworking staff and volunteers at Cork Simon Community, a beacon of hope for those facing homelessness in Cork. Additionally, we have raised over €75,000 for Cork Simon through our popular Yoga in the Park events.

Expanding Our Reach
We are delighted to announce the expansion of our Yoga Gives Back Community Program to include the incredible team at Good Shepherd Cork. These organizations provide essential services and support to those facing homelessness, as well as women and children escaping abuse.

How does this Help the End User?
Regular access to yoga classes for key workers and volunteers in high-intensity environments can help them regulate their nervous systems, reduce the effects of shift work on the body, improve physical well-being, and most importantly, promote good mental health. We believe that those nurturing vulnerable populations should be nurtured as a priority so they can give back sustainably and in wellness.

Free Classes
Each staff member or volunteer from Cork Simon Community, and Good Shepherd Cork enjoys free weekly classes at our South Mall and Ballincollig studios. By supporting those who support our most vulnerable community members, we help strengthen our community from the inside out.
